New for 2019, is Fundraising Teams. Upwind supporters can form teams to raise donations for Upwind Foundation. The team that raising the most donations by March 15th, 2019 will win the following prize:
The prize: A Cessna 172SP or 182T (dry) for 3 days!
The winner: The team who raises the most money for Upwind
The rules:
- Only donations made between now and the Upwind auction on March 15, 2019 count towards the contest.
- The prize must be redeemed as a 3-consecutive-day period (e.g. Fri – Sun, Mon – Wed) in 2019.
- The use of the plane must comply with the San Carlos Flight Center member regulations.

Create and register your team: A “team” can be made up of yourself alone or as many people as you’d like to recruit (and with whom you will share the prize). It’s entirely up to you to figure out the best strategy that lands (pun intended) you that Cessna 172 or 182. To register your team, e-mail your team name and a list of team members to team@upwindscholarship.com. (Have fun with your team name, but please keep it in good taste as it will appear on a public scoreboard.

Spread the word about Upwind Scholarship: Using any and all of your usual communication channels, spread the word about Upwind Scholarship. Upwind Scholarship is a unique program that provides a full flight training scholarship for high school students during the summer between their junior and senior years. For some recipients, it’s the first step towards a career in aviation. For all recipients, it’s a life-changing experience that teaches them lessons that reach far beyond aviation. - Solicit donations that will benefit both Upwind and your team: When people donate to Upwind, simply ensure they also specify your team. If they are making a donation with the paper Contribution Form, ensure they write in your team name in the bottom right-hand corner of the form. For online donations, simply have your donors select your team name.
And that’s it! We will keep score and publish team results on a regular basis. We want all of your efforts to be focused on winning, both for Upwind and your team.
Earn bonus points with auction items: No contest would be complete without an opportunity to earn bonus points! In addition to cash donations, we’re also looking for auction items for the Upwind auction on March 15, 2019. For any auction item that you contribute or are responsible for bringing in, the value of the winning bid will also count towards your team’s total. Watch out! This is how teams can sneak up from behind to take the prize!
Early bird prize: One more thing…To incentivize you to start fundraising today, the team who raises the most money for Upwind by the end of 2018 will receive a San Carlos Aviation & Supplies gift certificate and a 1 year subscription to ForeFlight Performance Plus (retail value $299) .
